A virtual private server (VPS) is a hosted environment that is created by the use of powerful new technologies that permit one high powered server to be split into multiple virtual servers while still retaining unique Operating System and server function. In short a Virtual Private Server is a "virtual" dedicated server, to be used for online service such as hosting, application deployment, service monitoring, etc.
